A brand new building for St David’s
If you happen to wander past St David’s Prep, you can’t fail to see that construction on our new building is well underway. We’re very excited about all the new opportunities it will allow our children.
Building Their Future
We’ve been working with the talented team at Kennedy Woods for a number of years to meticulously plan and design eight spacious new classrooms, inspiring new outdoor learning spaces, and an extension to Justin Hall which will provide us with a new kitchen.
As the school has grown in recent years, it has presented us with the challenge of accommodating more children, while still providing them with the benefits of small classes and the highest quality learning experience. So we are delighted that by summer 2025, the first stage of an exciting new development will be completed.
Designed to blend naturally into the woodland setting, this development ensures our children will continue to thrive and develop a love of learning in a contemporary and inspiring environment.

Designing Their Future
The space in which children learn can make a huge difference to their experience. The design of our new classrooms uses traditional forms and natural materials including timber cladding that will weather to a silver-grey, softening the appearance of the buildings and drawing them into the landscape.
The design ensures inclusivity and access for all with the addition of platform lifts and levelling of the site. We have also worked with Bromley Council to arrange for the installation of a new zebra crossing to further support St David’s Prep’s commitment to road safety. The school has already earned a gold award for its Modeshift STARS initiatives, and will continue to encourage pupils and staff to walk, scoot and ride to school where they can. For those that need to drive, the school will be installing electric vehicle charging points as part of the new development.
Protecting Their Future
Our new development creates light and airy modern learning spaces. It has been designed to the very highest environmental standards, and meets all the requirements of the London Plan.
We also worked with an extended design team to ensure that our energy strategy is lean, clean and green.
– Lean means using less energy
– Clean means supplying the energy efficiently
– Green means using renewable sources in lieu of fossil fuels
The use of air source heat pumps and solar panels means that 65% of energy consumption will be generated from renewable sources.
Our extensive, leafy grounds are key to the character of St David’s Prep, and we have designed the space around the new development to deliver a biodiversity net gain of over 10% through planting native hedgerows, wildflowers, groundcover plants, shrubs and woodland understorey trees. We will also install two bat boxes and four long-lasting bird boxes on suitably mature trees to encourage the proliferation of species.
