House of Parliament Trip

Our new Year 6 class were lucky enough to visit the Houses of Parliament at the start of the Autumn term. A place not many people get to see the inside of, but thanks to a very efficient Miss O’Sullivan, our students did just that.

Visitors get to explore the Palace of Westminster, with a handy audio guide, learning about the history and heritage of UK Parliament. They also got to see Westminster Hall, Central Lobby, The House of Commons Chamber and the House of Lords Chamber. As a working building it’s not always a guarantee that the tour can go ahead or that they would get to meet anyone however our Year 6 class were incredibly lucky that their local MP, Liam Conlon, was in office that day and was also very happy to answer their questions in a private Q&A session.

The children were certainly inspired by the day itself, with the unscheduled interview the cherry on the cake. Watch this space for some future politicians from St Davids Prep gracing the podium in the not too distant future.
