Junior Duke Award 2026

This year St David’s is proud to announce that we will be facilitating the Junior Duke Award for pupils in Year 3 up to Year 6. Junior Duke is a life skills award aimed at helping children build resilience, confidence and independence. Each level of the award scheme pushes the children to develop practical skills that will hopefully have a huge impact on their lives.

Developed by a Primary School teacher from Glasgow, Dawn wanted to help children overcome obstacles in their every day lives from learning how to cook and clean to simpler things like looking after their belongings. For her it was about celebrating the small everyday wins alongside the academic ones to give every child an opportunity to achieve success.

It also provides an opportunity for families to take part in the tasks together, be that learning a completely new skill as a family or having a family member pass on their skills to the children or to their friends. So far we have children taking part in the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Level awards and we are already seeing some amazing work happening by the children, proudly coming to school with their latest creations and results of their new skill based learning.

At St David’s we love to celebrate success in lots of ways and we can not wait to see how everyone has got on by the end of the academic year.
