New Dedicated Building for Music
It’s easy to think that a brand new building with 6 classrooms, an extension to Justin Hall with 2 new classrooms, and new a library, as well as a brand new kitchen were enough to be getting on with last year, BUT….we didn’t stop there. We are also very lucky to have had a conversion carried out on our old Year 2 building to be able to create a dedicated space just for Music.
With a new layout and sound proofing we now have a large space for group lessons and two smaller rooms for private tuition where our peripatetic teachers can make themselves at home.
This has enabled our music provision to grow and develop allowing more students to learn an instrument (or two!), partake in either private singing lessons or join our large choir from Year 3 to 6 on Wednesday mornings.
Our Music teacher Mrs Critten says:
“Teaching in the new music hub is fantastic! The main room itself is versatile, giving the children lots of room to move, play instruments and be creative. The acoustics are very good and we have such a high ceiling. I am enjoying teaching class music and hearing our young musicians enjoying their peripatetic lessons too in the smaller tuition rooms. Our Ensemble group and Band are rehearsing hard for the Carol Concert and we meet each week in the music hub. Tap Dance Club and British Sign Language Club also take place here and Mrs Foulger has even used the space for important meetings – a multi purpose space for all’
Our special room has another name ‘The Most Magical Room in the School’ and that it definitely is!”
