A brand-new building for St David’s
After months of excitement, we received the keys to our new building just in time to welcome the children back for the start of the Autumn Term. We’d love to show you around.
Designed around our unique leafy green space in the heart of West Wickham, our new building has been thoughtfully positioned to allow students to stay connected to the outdoor surroundings.
This development has provided us with eight spacious new classrooms, inspiring outdoor learning spaces, a library, breakout space, and a new kitchen. In addition, several other spaces have been repurposed and upgraded, including a music studio and two practice rooms.
OPENING NEW DOORS
What does this mean for our children?
These new spaces give us the freedom to offer an even richer learning experience:
- Calm, light-filled environments that support focus and wellbeing
- Sensitively landscaped outdoor areas where children can explore and grow
- Contemporary and inspiring spaces that spark curiosity and creativity
- Features to provide accessibility for all, including two lifts
What do our children say?
“I love the colours, all the plants, everything. Everyone has a view of the outside. It just keeps everyone relaxed.” – Tom, Year 4
“It’s calming which is creating positive vibes in the classroom.” – Anna, Year 5
“It’s really spacious, and the classrooms are really fancy! I love that there’s a tree planted inside that goes up through the roof.” – Rhema, Year 4

Sustainable by design
Our new building has been designed to the very highest environmental standards. 65% of energy consumption will be generated from renewable sources, using air source heat pumps and solar panels.
To enhance the extensive, leafy grounds that are key to the character of St David’s Prep, we have planted native flower, shrub and tree species to deliver a biodiversity net gain of over 10%.
The use of natural, sustainable materials, including the timber cladding, allows our building to sit harmoniously in the surrounding landscape. And for the wildlife, we’ve provided special boxes to house our resident birds and bats.
You can watch a video with the architect here to find out more about the design process that led to the creation of our amazing development.
