With so many happy families, it’s easy to see why parents choose St David’s Prep

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make as a parent. At St David’s Prep, families consistently tell us the same thing: their children are happy, thriving, and excited to learn every day.

From Pre-Reception onwards, we create a supportive environment on our 6-acre site in West Wickham, where children grow in confidence academically, socially, and emotionally.

“It’s been the best decision we’ve made and I can’t recommend it highly enough.” – Parent

So why do families love St David’s Prep?

Academic excellence is woven into every stage of school life. Through specialist teaching, purposeful challenge and individual support, children are encouraged to think deeply and achieve their very best. We are proud of the strong academic outcomes our pupils achieve, but even more proud of the well-rounded, confident young people they become in the process.

From Forest School and educational trips, to Languages, Sport and Music, children enjoy a broad and engaging curriculum from the very beginning. Parents particularly value the opportunities children experience each week, including:

  • Personalised Learning Programme from Reception to Year 6, supporting every child to thrive
  • One-to-One Music lessons with experienced peripatetic music teachers
  • Forest School sessions that encourage exploration, resilience and independence
  • Specialist teaching in Spanish and French, with Latin introduced in Year 6
  • A vibrant sports programme with regular fixtures and competitive opportunities against other schools
  • Inspiring educational trips that bring learning to life and enhance our curriculum, including visits to the National Portrait Gallery, the Tower of London and Leeds Castle to name a few
  • Memorable residential trips for Years 5 and 6 that develop teamwork, confidence and independence
  • LEGO Robotics and hands-on STEM experiences that encourage innovation and problem-solving

“She’s learning Spanish, goes to forest school, various school trips, does PE and impresses me every day with her numbers and phonics. – Reception Parent

Parents regularly describe the school as a place where children feel safe, valued and encouraged to flourish. We have the ability to offer individual attention in our small class sizes.

“Thanks to the caring staff, warm environment and incredible friendly older children she has absolutely thrived! I can’t speak highly enough of everyone there.”  – Pre-Reception Parent

One of St David’s best-kept secrets is its extensive grounds. Behind the school, and hidden from the road, lies six acres of grounds and playing fields – a green oasis ringed with beautiful mature trees, which flocks of escaped parakeets have made their home. This is, of course, where all our games lessons, matches and Forest School lessons are held.

Being part of Wishford Education means the stability of being part of a wider group, but it also means investment and development. Our brand-new building has provided us with eight spacious new classrooms, inspiring outdoor learning spaces, a library, breakout space and new kitchen. In addition, several other spaces have also recently been repurposed and upgraded, including a music studio and two practice rooms.

Commenting on our new classroom block, one of our students said: “It’s really spacious, and the classrooms are really fancy! I love that there’s a tree planted inside that goes up through the roof.” – Rhema, Year 4

From their very first day with us, families become part of a close-knit and welcoming community at St David’s Prep.

“We really value the community feeling of the school as it creates such an engaging environment for the children to learn and grow in.” – Year 3 Parent

“There are many culturally engaging opportunities in the diary each term… to celebrate diversity thus fostering understanding of multicultural family backgrounds, befitting of the school.“  – Pre-Reception Parent

We understand the pressures of family life, particularly for people juggling work and parenthood. Families can take advantage of wrap-around care, from 7.45am until 6 pm, and a variety of exciting before and after-school clubs, along with holiday club.
