Year 6 – School Journey
School Journey is a right of passage for us all. For many children it’s their first taste of life away from their caregivers and their home and can often come with many mixed emotions but more than anything it’s a chance to do new things, learn new skills and make those all important core memories.
This year our Year 6 class travelled to the Brecon Beacons in Wales for a week of pure adventure. Accompanied by Mrs Sowter, Mrs Critten and Mr Mayes, they spent the week at an activity centre taking on challenge after challenge and really pushing themselves out of their comfort zone. There was indoor rock climbing, high ropes (some even attempted this blindfolded!), tree top high ropes, zip wires, pony trekking, abseiling, archery competitions, mountain rescue training, hiking and more rope climbing! What a week! The teachers got stuck in too and we think it’s safe to say that this is a week our Year 6 students will never forget.
The setting was beautiful and the weather was very kind too – what more could we have asked for?
Not long now before our Year 6 will be leaving St David’s behind them but we hope that this week together will stay with them for years to come.
