Pre-Prep learn all about Diwali

Pre-Prep have been learning this week all about the Hindu festival of Diwali. During an assembly they found out that Diwali is also called ‘The Festival of Lights’. They listened to the story of Rama and Sita which is retold every year. Each child was given a small coloured torch to hold and Diwali lamps that Reception had made were lit. Then the hall curtains were closed and the lights turned off, the children sat in wonder looking at the twinkling lights as they reflected upon the story. Later in the day, Reception were lucky enough to try on some beautiful traditional Indian costumes which helped extend the learning about this festival.
