Awesome Astronomy!
On Tuesday evening many of Year 5 and their parents were lucky enough to gaze in awe and wonder at the moon and some even saw Mars!
Mr Leach imaginatively arranged a whole evening of astronomy related activities from building junk ‘planetary rovers’, finding out equivalent ages and weight on various planets and eating space ice cream, as enjoyed by real astronauts!
The evening ended with a talk from Hugh, a member of the Orpington Astronomers Group who, with several others, allowed the children and adults to marvel at the night sky through telescopes set up in our grounds.
Wow! Amazing! Brilliant! Just some of the words uttered by our pupils. What an experience – hopefully the first of many such evenings.
Thank you Mr Leach.
